Twice did Shaikh Batalwi Sahib, author of Isha‘atus-Sunnah, swear a solemn oath that he would, by a certain date, reply to my letter regarding the writing of an Arabic commentary and Qasidah. 16 days have elapsed on both his promises. God knows how many more will pass. Shaikh Sahib’s promises and his breaking of them clearly suggest that he finds himself in a quandary.
Three days ago, I received a rather terse message from the maulawis of Amritsar that if I am to debate Dr. Clarke on the life and death of Jesus they will most certainly presume to side with him. Thus, I give a general notice to Shaikh Sahib and his ilk, nay, I challenge them to do all that is in their power, for I will assuredly debate Dr. Clarke on this matter. They are at full liberty to assist him in any way if they should so desire.
