Qasidah [Ode]

In praise of our Master and Spiritual Guide,
the Promised Messiah, may Allah guard him against all harm

by: The humble servant, Rahmat Ali of Barnawa

O the one who is the mine of the pearls of knowledge!
Only you know the value of the jewels of knowledge.

Your heart has become a brimful treasure of knowledge,
And your pen has opened the door of knowledge.

While knowledge nourishes the soul,
You have come to nourish the spirit of knowledge!

You have unveiled secrets,
And spread the fragrance of knowledge.

The seeing eye finds you the comforter of people are the light of the lamp of the Faith of Ahmad,
O chief of knowledge, who is seated on a high station!

You are the light of the lamp of the Faith of Ahmad,
And you are the light of the minaret and the rostrum of knowledge.

O you who is the crown of the head! Because of you, faith has become charming;
You are the beauty of the face of knowledge.

You are the manifestation of [and there are some others of that group];
And you are the first and the last word of knowledge.

Only you could show the right path,
Because today you alone are the guide to knowledge.

Wear now the turban of superiority!
O you who is the decorated crown of knowledge!

You have given us the news of the death of ‘Isa [Jesus],
Which was previously concealed in the book of knowledge.

May you always be happy, for you have fulfilled [the promise],
O one clad in the beautiful raiment of knowledge!

The promise which was made by the sage of the all the times [i.e. Holy Prophet(sas)],
That he received from the Arbiter of knowledge [God];

I discern on your blessed face the signs of the Promised One,
Though I am not well versed in academic arguments.

You are the Mahdi [Guided One] and guide of the age,
You are ‘Isa and the cherished emissary of knowledge.

Your hand is on the throat of Dajjal [the Antichrist];
In your hand is drawn the dagger of knowledge.

The worldly scholars have their faces covered,
With the great veil of ‘knowledge’.

You are drawing towards guidance those,
For whom guidance had been ordained since eternity.

Bless me with your glance of mercy
O you whose face is a beautiful spectacle of knowledge!

I am thirsty and have stumbled in my way,
While you are distributing the water of the Kauthar—the heavenly spring—of knowledge!

Do not, for God’s sake, hold back,
From me the light of the bright moon of knowledge.
