Standard of a Miracle

I read an anecdote in Tadhkiratul-Auliya’ that there was a man who was suspicious of a pious man and considered the pious man as an imposter and a liar.

One day he went to the pious man and asked him to show some miracle. The pious man said, ‘My miracle is clearly visible. Though you associate all sorts of sins with me, yet you observe that God does not destroy me. The town of Lot was destroyed, so were the people of ‘ad and Thamud, but I do not get the wrath of God. Is this not a miracle for you?’
