Our Teaching is the English translation of the book entitled Hamaaree Ta’leem, compiled by Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad(ra). A major portion of this book is a condensed version of the section entitled ‘Teaching’ in the Urdu book Kashti-e-Nuh [‘Noah’s Ark’] by the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) of Qadian, India. In Kashti-e-Nuh, the Promised Messiah(as) explained the nature of the prophecy concerning the plague. He declared that whosoever dwelled within the four walls of his home, both in a literal and spiritual sense, would be protected by God from the ravages of the plague. He then proceeded to give the gist of his teachings so that, by adhering to its precepts, people might spiritually enter the ‘four walls’ of his home and save themselves from the disease.
Hamaaree Ta’leem also contains an appendix entitled ‘Ahmadiyya Beliefs’. It is extracted from the book Da’watul-Ameer [‘Invitation to Ahmadiyyat’] by Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifatul-Masih II(ra). This book was written to serve as a statement of beliefs, a rationale of claims, and an invitation on behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Our Teaching is addressed primarily to members of the Community for their moral and spiritual education. Its contents, however, are so spiritually inspiring that every soul in search of truth and spirituality can derive benefit from it.
Since its original publication, Our Teaching has been translated into various languages of the world and has gone through many editions. We would like to acknowledge the contribution of the following regarding this revised edition: Mirza Usman Ahmad, Ayyaz Mahmood Khan, al-Haaj Munawar Ahmed Saeed, Naser-ud-Din Shams, Fouzan Mansoor Pal, Hassan Khan, and Abdul-Wahab Mirza. May Allah bless them all and reward them abundantly.
