Ahmadiyyat () a religious community within Islam founded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) who claimed to be the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi.

Fiqh or Fiqah () Islamic jurisprudence.

Hadith () the recorded sayings and traditions of the Holy Prophet (sas).

Hafiz () an honorific title for a Muslim who knows the Qur’an by heart.

Hazrat or Hadrat () an honorific Arabic title.

Imam () an honorific title of a worship leader of a mosque and Muslim community .

Istighfar () prayer for seeking forgiveness from God.

Istikhara or Istikharah () a prayer recited by Muslims when in need of guidance.

Khalifa or Khalifah () a term used for Islamic spiritual leaders, particularly the successors of the Holy Prophet (sas) and the Promised Messiah (as).

Khalifatul-Masih () a title conferred on the spiritual successors of the Promised Messiah (as).

Maulana () a Muslim cleric.

Maulawi () a Muslim cleric.

Pandit () a Hindu scholar learned in Sanskrit and Hindu philosophy.

Pir () a Muslim saint who usually has a large following.

Sadaqa or Sadaqah () a voluntary act of charity.

Tahajjud () a voluntary prayer performed by Muslims in the early part of the night.

Taqwa or Taqwah () righteousness.

Umma or Ummah () the global community of Muslims.

Zakat () the fourth pillar of Islam. An annual alms payment obligatory on all Muslims which is used for social welfare and charity.
